Fire Service Technology Readiness Study

An initial baseline of how departments select, manage, integrate, secure and evaluate the technology they depend on.

Fire departments increasingly depend on technology for emergency communications, incident operations, EMS, training, data analysis, community risk reduction, and administrative functions. However, departments vary considerably in how they select, manage, integrate, secure, and evaluate these systems.

This study is intended to establish an initial baseline of technology readiness across the fire service. It is not a vendor evaluation, cybersecurity audit, or judgment of any individual department. Results will be reported in aggregate and used to identify common challenges, promising practices, and opportunities for future research.

To support accurate department-level results, this study is limited to one coordinated response per department. Please consult with your fire chief, technology lead, or the person responsible for your department's technology decisions before submitting the assessment.
